Russian scanwords are truly a global phenomenon. No other language offers such a rich mix of literary references, witty humor, and current events—all woven into everyday crosswords. It might seem surprising, but it reflects the Russian people's deep connection with words. They cherish, honor, and treat language as something precious.

The app features a variety of scanwords—ranging from simple to challenging, some with photos, and others with classic or associative clues like “one word” or “two words,” similar to Elder Fur’s hints. Each issue includes one English-Russian scanword and one “holey” puzzle—you’ll quickly see how it got its name. Every page introduces a character from our cheerful family. Come join the fun!

All scanwords are completely free. This is an annual collection with 52–53 issues, each containing 20 scanwords. A full year's worth of puzzles will take up about 50 MB on your phone—images are small, and text is just text. We respect your device's storage.

No internet is needed to solve puzzles once the issues are downloaded. New magazines are published every Friday. If you enable notifications, you’ll get a weekly reminder every Friday at 12:00 local time. The app automatically downloads new issues in the background, and successful downloads won’t repeat. You can also manually download or delete individual magazines, or use Settings to download all issues at once.

Key features, including access to all scanwords, are free. Advertising sponsors the experience, with one narrow banner per page and one interstitial ad before opening a scanword. Ads never interrupt your solving flow. Plus, you can earn free hints by watching promotional videos.

Every user has the option—not the obligation—to remove ads by: a) disabling them permanently, b) subscribing to remove ads and get unlimited hints, or c) purchasing hints in bulk. All options are available in the Shop.
