This educational app, the Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) Little Bee Spelling Game, sponsored by Grace Kennedy Money Services (GKMS) and Western Union (WU), offers children aged 4-9 a fun and engaging way to learn over 150 words. Available offline, the app features three distinct game modes, each with 10 levels of increasing difficulty, and 15+ words per level.
The app allows students to personalize their experience by entering their name, age, parish, and school in the settings. The three modes cater to different learning styles:
-
Learning Mode 1: A straightforward spelling practice where children tap letters in sequence to spell words, receiving audio feedback on letter pronunciation. Mistakes are easily correctable, and the word can be replayed at any time. Progress is sequential, requiring completion of earlier levels before moving on.
-
Learning Mode 2: This mode presents jumbled letters for each word, challenging children to arrange them correctly. Similar to Mode 1, audio assistance is provided, mistakes can be undone, and words can be replayed. Level progression remains sequential.
-
Competition Mode: A timed challenge where students must spell words correctly from a jumbled set, including extra, irrelevant letters. Each word's time is tracked, and the total time for the level is displayed on the leaderboard. This mode encourages speed and accuracy.
The app includes a reset function and allows for screen captures of the leaderboard. Developed by Bazzle Amusement (www.BazzleAmusement.com), contact them at [email protected] or 876-543-4342 for any inquiries.
