The Samsung S90D is the current 2024 flagship model, widely regarded as one of the best OLED TVs on the market, even outperforming the LG C4. It utilizes Samsung's proprietary Quantum Dot (QD)-OLED panel technology. QD-OLED delivers significantly higher brightness than traditional OLEDs while preserving the exceptional color accuracy, wide color range, and expansive viewing angles that OLED is famous for. When compared to a standard LED LCD TV, an OLED like the S90D provides superior overall image quality, near-perfect black levels, an almost infinite contrast ratio, and incredibly fast response times.
Beyond its core OLED technology, the Samsung S90D is packed with features tailored for gamers. It features a native 120Hz refresh rate that can be overclocked to 144Hz, along with four HDMI 2.1 ports capable of delivering 4K resolution at 120Hz for your PS5 or Xbox Series X. The S90D also supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), making it a perfect match for the recently released PlayStation 5 Pro.

Samsung previewed its latest top-tier models at CES 2025. Final pricing for each model has not yet been announced.
The new OLED lineup—comprising the S95F, S90F, and S85F—includes several iterative improvements over last year's models. The flagship S95F boasts a new NQ4 AI Gen 3 processor, a faster 165Hz refresh rate, an enhanced anti-glare coating, and an upgraded QD-OLED panel promising peak brightness of up to 2,000 nits. The S90F will also feature the Gen 3 processor, a 144Hz refresh rate with VRR, and a QD-OLED panel reaching up to 1,300 nits of brightness (on models 55 inches and larger). The S85F remains the entry-level OLED option, equipped with a previous-generation Gen 2 processor.
Following the broader industry trend, Samsung is heavily investing in AI for its 2025 TVs. The new "Vision AI" technology can intelligently recognize the content you're watching, including specific elements like actors or locations, and display relevant, personalized information in real-time. Furthermore, more models this year will come with AI Upscaling Pro and AI Motion Enhancer Pro, which work together to dynamically optimize picture quality. Additional AI-powered features include Active Voice Amplifier Pro, which isolates and enhances dialogue; AI Optimization; and AI Energy Mode.
Samsung is also expanding the use of the matte-style anti-glare coating, first seen on the 2024 S95D, across more of its TV panels. This specialized coating minimizes reflections to an unnoticeable level without the color desaturation often associated with anti-glare treatments from other manufacturers.

The LG C-series OLEDs are excellent alternatives to this model and are often more budget-friendly (though not in this specific case). The higher-end LG G-series TVs offer even better performance but come with a significantly higher price tag.
