How To Access the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map. However, this location remained inaccessible until the game's March 2025 update. Here’s a detailed guide on how to access the Deep Woods and locate Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*.

How to Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Unlocking the Deep Woods involves breaking the Fire Seal and using the newly acquired Dragon’s Breath spell to burn through the concealing vines. To initiate this process, you need to place four specific items on the Priestess’ Fire Seal altar located at Floor 60 in the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items can be found between floors 50 and 59, but obtaining the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork with Juniper and Balor.

To help Balor procure the Sealing Scroll, you must deposit the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

Once you've met these requirements, speak to Balor again, and he will inform you that the scroll will be available the next day. After obtaining the scroll, you can complete the offering at the altar.

Typically, breaking a magic seal leads to a few final words from the mysterious mines Priestess and the unlocking of a new biome. However, this time, things take an unexpected turn. The Priestess urges you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. With your health depleted, Caldarus appears in his human form upon your call for help, then retreats to his temple in the Deep Woods to regain his strength.

Caldarus leaves you with the Dragon’s Breath spell, which you can use to burn through the vines blocking the entrance to the Deep Woods. This spell also unlocks other previously inaccessible areas on the map. To use it, equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu and activate it while standing in front of the entrance to the Deep Woods. This action permanently unlocks the area.

How to Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, you can locate Caldarus inside his temple within the Deep Woods. This temple is situated to the north of the Eastern Road on your map, and accessing it requires the Dragon’s Breath spell. Caldarus' exact location is marked on your map, similar to other NPCs. You'll find him in the northeast corner of the area.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods, head right, and use your axe to chop down the stump blocking your path. Continue north until you arrive at the temple, where Caldarus awaits inside.

Once the Deep Woods is unlocked, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to the area and visit Caldarus at any time. The cost is just 10 Essence, making it a convenient way to save time compared to traveling on foot or horseback.

Additionally, you can interact with Caldarus through his statue, maintaining a connection even when not physically present.
