Amazon's highly anticipated God of War TV series has already secured a commitment for two seasons, as announced by the new showrunner, Ronald D. Moore. Moore stepped in following the exit of former showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent chat with Katee Sackhoff, his former colleague from Battlestar Galactica, Moore shared insights into his current projects.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, which is a major title in the gaming world," Moore explained. "Amazon has greenlit two seasons, and they've brought me on board to help bring this epic story to life. I'm currently in the writer's room, deeply immersed in the process. It's my latest venture."

Moore humorously admitted that he's not a gamer, though he enjoys classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He shared his struggles with modern game controllers, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."
For the God of War series, Moore is taking on multiple roles as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. With an impressive resume that includes Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and the critically acclaimed 2000s reboot of Battlestar Galactica, Moore's experience is poised to enrich the adaptation.
Despite the departure of some key members of the original team, Sony's Cory Barlog remains involved as an executive producer. While many details about the series remain under wraps, it's confirmed that the show will be based on the 2018 God of War game.
Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations, such as the Fallout TV series and Secret Level, following their successful launches, suggest a promising future for the God of War series on the streaming platform.
