Ubisoft has officially announced the global release times for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, marking a significant departure from the series' and Ubisoft's usual strategy. Unlike previous titles, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not offer early access for a fee, ensuring a simultaneous global launch. The game is set to hit the shelves on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S at 12am local time on March 20. However, PC gamers should note different release times depending on whether they're using Steam or Ubisoft's Ubi Connect platform.
Pre-loading is currently available across all platforms, including Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC, allowing eager players to get ready ahead of the launch.
The release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows comes under intense scrutiny for Ubisoft, following a series of delays and the underwhelming sales of last year's Star Wars Outlaws. The company has faced numerous challenges, including high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations, putting significant pressure on this new installment to succeed.
IGN's review of Assassin’s Creed Shadows awarded it an 8/10, praising the game for refining its established systems and delivering one of the finest open-world experiences in the series to date. The review stated, “By sharpening the edges of its existing systems, Assassin’s Creed Shadows creates one of the best versions of the open-world style it’s been honing for the last decade.”
