Koei Tecmo has officially announced the end-of-service for Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just a year after its global launch. The decision comes after the developers admitted they were unable to maintain the quality standards they had initially set. In-game purchases will cease on January 27th, and all services will end on March 28th. Until the shutdown, the game will host several events, allowing players to savor the remaining time with the title.
The developers at Koei Tecmo have been working diligently on improvements and events, but ultimately, they found that continuing operations was not feasible. Players can still use their Lodestar Gems for in-game activities until the game's closure, though no further purchases of these gems will be possible.
The news of Atelier Resleriana's closure may not come as a shock to many. The gacha market is highly competitive, with numerous titles fighting for player attention. Despite its innovative concepts, Atelier Resleriana struggled with several challenges. The gacha and banner rates drew criticism for hindering player progression, and the alchemy system, a hallmark of the Atelier franchise, failed to engage players as intended. The gameplay, while functional, lacked the allure needed to compete effectively within the genre.
From the outset, Atelier Resleriana faced significant challenges. In retrospect, signs of its impending closure were evident. On platforms like Twitter and Reddit, players have been vocal, expressing their desire for an offline version of the game. However, the likelihood of this happening seems slim. If you've enjoyed this turn-based RPG, make the most of the final months before the adventure concludes on March 28th.
