*Atomfall* prides itself on offering players the utmost freedom in how they experience its story. When you begin a new save, you'll be greeted by the Playstyle menu, featuring five distinct modes tailored to different player preferences:

Sightseer – This "low-pressure mode" is ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in the story without the stress of combat or survival. Exploration, Survival, and Combat are all set to 'Assisted' difficulty, ensuring a relaxed experience.

Investigator – Designed for players who enjoy exploring independently without hints or HUD assistance, this mode keeps combat at a low-stress level. Exploration is set to 'Challenging' difficulty, while Survival is 'Casual' and Combat is 'Assisted'.

Brawler – For those who relish combat challenges, this mode focuses on engaging enemies with 'Challenging' difficulty, while Survival remains 'Casual' and Exploration is 'Assisted', offering a more guided experience in these areas.

Survivor – Recommended by the developers, this balanced mode sets Combat, Survival, and Exploration to 'Challenging' difficulty, providing a well-rounded test of your skills.

Veteran – The most demanding mode, intended for players seeking the ultimate challenge. All aspects, including Combat, Survival, and Exploration, are set to 'Intense' difficulty.

Choosing the right playstyle can be tricky on your first playthrough. Fortunately, *Atomfall* allows you to switch playstyles without any penalties. Simply pause the game, navigate to 'Options', and under the 'Game' tab, you'll find 'Playstyle'. Here, you can adjust the difficulty of Combat, Survival, and Exploration to suit your needs, aligning you with one of the preset playstyles. For even more detailed customization, explore the 'Advanced Options' to fine-tune your gaming experience.

*Atomfall* is designed to offer a balanced gameplay experience, catering to a wide range of player preferences without pushing any extremes. The choice ultimately boils down to what you find most enjoyable. If you're selecting from the five default options, starting with either **Investigator** or **Brawler** could be beneficial. These playstyles will help you gauge your comfort with the game's combat and exploration mechanics, allowing you to adjust your experience accordingly.

However, the most personalized option is the customized playstyle, where you can tailor every aspect of the game to your liking, from enemy behavior to exploration and bartering. Importantly, there are no achievements or trophies tied to completing the game on specific difficulties, so feel free to tweak your settings as often as you like.

This guide covers all the *Atomfall* playstyles in detail. For more tips, don't forget to check out our other content, including how to obtain a free Metal Detector early in the game.
