The mobile strategy tower defense game, Code Geass: Lost Stories, is ending its global run. While the Japanese version will continue, the global servers will shut down on August 29th, 2024. This means no new downloads, purchases, or logins will be possible after that date. The game's global social media presence will also cease on the same day.
Developed by f4samurai and DMM Games, and published by Komoe, the game launched globally in September 2023, falling short of its first anniversary. The reasons for the closure remain unstated by the developers, but low download numbers and generally unfavorable global reviews likely contributed significantly. Many licensed anime games struggle to maintain a player base outside Japan due to lower spending habits in other regions.
Despite its short lifespan globally, the game, based on the popular Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion anime and manga, has found a dedicated following in Japan. Japanese players can still access the game on the Google Play Store.
