Enhancing your character in Dynasty Warriors: Origins can be achieved through various mechanics, and one of the most effective methods is by using Gems. These powerful accessories offer passive bonuses that can significantly impact your performance, especially when tackling higher difficulty settings.
You have the ability to both craft new gems and upgrade existing ones. While the system may appear somewhat random at first glance, there are strategies you can use to improve your chances of crafting the gem type you desire. Below, we’ll walk you through how to effectively craft and level up gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
Gem crafting requires Pyroxene, a key resource found throughout the game world. You can access the gem crafting menu from any Inn or tent location. Once inside your room, select the second option from the top labeled "Create Gems".
Here, you can spend Pyroxene at a 1:1 ratio to craft random gems. There are five unique types of gems available, each offering its own specific passive bonus (see list below). Every time you craft a gem, it will start at level 1 and can be equipped via the Battle Preparations menu.
Once you’ve crafted a particular gem for the first time, subsequent duplicates will contribute experience toward leveling up that specific gem. As the gem levels increase, so does the strength of its effect. If you're not targeting specific gems, feel free to craft in bulk—this allows you to randomly upgrade multiple gem types simultaneously.
If you’re aiming for a certain gem, you can take advantage of the “Eyes of the Sacred Bird” mechanic. This feature activates randomly when crafting a single gem and narrows down the pool of possible results to just three options. You can exit and re-enter the crafting menu to reset this effect if needed. While crafting one at a time is more deliberate, it can be time-consuming. However, it gives you better control over which gems you prioritize.
Keep in mind that “Eyes of the Sacred Bird” reduces randomness but doesn't eliminate it entirely.
Gem Name | Passive Boost |
---|---|
Oblivion Gem | Increases attack range |
Vortex Gem | Boosts damage against airborne enemies |
Scorch Gem | Increases damage against parrying enemies |
Wellspring Gem | Restores health every 100 defeated enemies |
Ascendance Gem | Grants a chance to automatically block officer attacks |
Pyroxene is primarily scattered across the overworld as orange crystal formations. Simply interact with them to collect one unit of Pyroxene, and the crystal will disappear.
After completing a Skirmish or Battle, additional Pyroxene will respawn on the map. This encourages players to revisit previously explored areas regularly, as new crystals will continue to appear.
You can also occasionally receive Pyroxene through letters, which are read while resting in your room at an Inn or campsite.
By consistently collecting Pyroxene and refining your gem crafting strategy, you’ll be able to tailor your loadout and maximize your combat effectiveness throughout the campaign.
