Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Unavailable for PS Plus Game Redemptions

During Sony’s recent State of Play showcase, *Days Gone Remastered* emerged as a highlight, yet the announcement of its $10 upgrade has stirred discontent among PlayStation Plus subscribers. Sony has specified that the discounted upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version is exclusively available to those who possess either the PlayStation 4 disc or a digital copy of *Days Gone*. Unfortunately, this offer does not extend to those who obtained the game through the PS Plus subscription service, including those who redeemed it from the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or as an Essential monthly game in April 2021.

This means that PS Plus subscribers who own *Days Gone* must pay the full price of $49.99 to access the remastered version on PS5. The exclusion from the $10 upgrade has led to a wave of frustration among subscribers, many of whom have taken to online platforms to voice their grievances. For instance, a thread on the PlayStation Plus subreddit is filled with comments from users expressing their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade fee, but their reluctance to purchase the game at full price.

“They would actually have made a decent chunk of change if PS Plus players were eligible, even if most didn’t want to play it they’d at least be interested in paying 10 bucks to try it out for an hour or two,” suggested user squarejellyfish_. Another subscriber, teckn9ne79, added, “They should let Essentials upgrade cause I would pay the $10, but I will not buy it any other way. I will stick with the one I got.”

The sentiment was echoed by dredizzle99, who said, “There's no way I'm paying full price for this, but I'd happily pay for the upgrade at least just to check it out. Surely the majority of people that have it on PS Plus are thinking the same thing, so they're basically losing all the potential sales from them.” Additionally, jackanyon95 pointed out, "They gave away the game for free so every copy is an extra £10/$10 they wouldn't have had but they decided to be awkward instead and cut out half the owner base. I'm not paying full price, it didn't even need a remaster."

While some PS Plus subscribers are unsurprised by Sony's decision, believing the company has made a calculated financial move, others have criticized Sony as "stingy." These fans had hoped for a more generous approach from PlayStation. Despite the controversy, *Days Gone Remastered* was not the only title unveiled at the State of Play event.
