This year-long series of events introduces a new format for annual updates. According to Bungie, "Starting with the Year of Prophecy, each year will now feature four major content drops: two paid expansions and two major updates accessible to all players."

These updates will include new events, Exotic Missions, gear, rewards, and more. Importantly, this new structure ensures that all players can enjoy Destiny 2's major updates without needing to pay for seasonal activities.

The Edge of Fate Launches July 15

Kicking off the Year of Prophecy, Destiny 2's first expansion, The Edge of Fate, launches on July 15. Players will explore a new destination, Kepler, and harness unique abilities with the help of new allies.

This update also introduces new features like the Portal, "a new activity selection screen designed to offer instant access to a variety of activities tailored to different playstyles, making it easier than ever for players to embark on their next adventure."

Additionally, there will be enhancements to the game's armor and tiering systems, new set bonuses, and a character stats rework. More details on these changes will be shared in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out.

Renegades Coming on December 2

Later this year, on December 2, Destiny 2 will release its second expansion, Renegades, in collaboration with the iconic Star Wars franchise.
