At DIGIMON CON 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled exciting updates for the Digimon franchise, including the new mobile TCG, Digimon Alysion, and the upcoming game, Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Dive into the details of these highly anticipated projects and see what's in store for Digimon fans.
During the DIGIMON CON 2025 livestream on March 20, Bandai Namco introduced Digimon Alysion, a fresh mobile trading card game (TCG) currently in development. Capitalizing on the popularity of mobile card games like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, Digimon Alysion aims to broaden its TCG fanbase by entering the mobile arena.
Digimon Alysion is designed as a free-to-play digital TCG where players can collect cards featuring various Digimon and franchise characters, construct their decks, and engage in battles with other players. What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its inclusion of an in-depth story mode, offering players more than just standard and competitive gameplay.
Alongside the announcement, Bandai showcased a trailer that provided glimpses of the gameplay and introduced an all-female cast speculated to be part of the story mode. New characters include Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon, Gemmon.
While no official release date has been set for Digimon Alysion, Bandai mentioned an upcoming closed beta test, with further details to be announced later.
DIGIMON CON 2025 also shed light on Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game's background, key characters, and the special abilities of several Digimon that will appear in the game.
Hara confirmed that players can choose from three starter Digimon at the game's outset: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon, all beloved characters from the original Digimon Adventure anime. These Digimon were previously speculated to be the starters based on their inclusion in the main promotional artwork.
Time Stranger boasts an extensive roster of over 450 Digimon, surpassing its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory, which featured 330 Digimon. The new trailer highlighted some of these, including Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the fan-favorite Agumon.
Hara also introduced the game's protagonists: Dan Yuki and Kanan Yuki, who are secret agents working for ADAMAS, an organization tasked with investigating mysterious threats to humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon, will join players on their journey. The game's title hints at its central theme of time, with the protagonist experiencing time travel throughout the adventure.
The event also featured other announcements, including the Digimon Anime's 25th Anniversary PV, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and a new anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. With these developments, the Digimon franchise is poised for an exciting future.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Keep an eye on our site for the latest updates on this highly anticipated game!
