According to Tony Gilroy, the mastermind behind the critically acclaimed "Andor," Disney is reportedly developing a secret Star Wars horror project. During a candid discussion with Business Insider, Gilroy hinted at Lucasfilm's intriguing behind-the-scenes endeavors. When questioned about his potential interest in a darker Star Wars project, he revealed that Disney is already exploring this chilling concept.

"They're doing that. I think they're doing that," Gilroy stated, confirming the existence of a Star Wars horror project. "I think that's in the works, yeah."

If this news holds true, fans might soon witness Star Wars delving into the Dark Side in an unprecedented manner. The exact nature of this project—whether it will be a TV series, a movie, or something else—is still cloaked in mystery. There's also no information yet on the creative leadership behind this venture. While it might be years before we learn more about Lucasfilm's horror project, Gilroy's remarks suggest that Disney is open to exploring new territories within the Star Wars universe.

"The right creator, and the right moment, and the right vibe … you can do anything," Gilroy reflected on his experience with "Andor." "So, my hope is that the show connects, and then we can pass along the favor that we were given from 'Mandalorian,' and we can pass along a good healthy backwind to someone else who wants to do something else cool."

For years, fans, including Mark Hamill, have dreamed of a full-fledged Star Wars horror movie. Despite the franchise's focus on the Skywalker saga and its many side characters, there remains ample opportunity to explore its darker, more terrifying aspects. While some spinoffs have ventured into scarier territory, major productions typically aim for broad, family-friendly appeal.
