The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, drawing inspiration from the acclaimed Dark and Darker, have made the tough decision to cease support and shut down the game's servers. Despite an enthusiastic start, Dungeonborne struggled to maintain its player base, ultimately succumbing to insufficient player engagement and a lack of substantial updates over its brief lifespan of less than a year.
While the game's page remains visible on Steam, it has been removed from the platform's search results and is only accessible through a direct link. Although the official reasons for the closure remain undisclosed, it's evident that the dwindling number of players was a significant factor in this decision. Since the latter part of 2024, Dungeonborne's concurrent player count never exceeded 200, and recent figures have plummeted to a mere 10-15 active users daily.
The servers for Dungeonborne are set to go offline permanently on May 28, signaling the end of the project. This marks a somber conclusion for a game that once captured the imagination of fans within its genre but ultimately couldn't fulfill its promise and potential.
