Evil Dead: The Game has officially vanished from digital storefronts as its publisher initiates removal procedures. This asymmetric multiplayer adaptation of the cult classic horror-action series originally debuted in 2022 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
Our original review scored Evil Dead: The Game a solid 8/10, praising its thrilling cat-and-mouse gameplay that perfectly captured the chaotic spirit of the films despite some technical imperfections. The Game of the Year Edition launched twelve months later attempted to revive player counts, but ultimately couldn't stop the bleeding.
The writing appeared on the wall when Saber Interactive canceled the Switch port and halted content updates last September. While the servers remain operational for existing owners, new players can no longer purchase this supernatural showdown.
The team at Saber Interactive broke their silence through an official Steam announcement:
We've begun removing the game from digital storefronts. Current owners can still access the game through our maintained servers.
Our heartfelt thanks goes out to every deadite slayer - from our launch day warriors to recent recruits. Your passion kept this fight alive.
The Steam community reacted mournfully, flooding the game's page with bittersweet farewells alongside critiques about this abrupt sunsetting. Ironically, the announcement seems to have inspired some players to leave positive final reviews before checkout time.
"Grab your boomsticks while you can," warns one veteran survivor with nearly 400 hours logged. "We knew this day was coming... didn't make it any easier."
With Evil Dead now joining the Necronomicon's cursed pages, Saber Interactive focuses on its stacked roster of upcoming licensed titles including Toxic Commando, Jurassic Park Survival, and an Avatar: The Last Airbender project. Fans can also anticipate new installments in their Warhammer 40k and Turok franchises.
