The classic strategy game, ROME: Total War, has just received a significant free update on Android, courtesy of Feral Interactive. Dubbed the Imperium Update, this enhancement brings a host of gameplay tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life features to enrich your gaming experience. If you've been enjoying this timeless title since its Android debut in 2018, you're in for a treat with these new additions. Fans of the standalone expansions, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, can also look forward to receiving the same update next week.
The Imperium Update integrates some of the most acclaimed features from Feral's newer mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. Players can now enjoy three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These additions enhance your ability to command units with greater precision during battles. A simple tap and hold now allows you to move your army, agents, or fleets, eliminating the need for manual path dragging.
Positioning Mode offers refined control over unit placement through a tap-and-hold mechanism. The Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups with a collapsible selection menu. Meanwhile, Melee Mode enables ranged units to seamlessly transition to close combat when the situation demands it.
A standout feature of the update is the Command Slowdown, which automatically reduces the game speed when you're issuing complex orders, making it easier to strategize effectively. Additionally, for the first time, ROME: Total War on Android (and iPad) now supports keyboard and mouse, enhancing the gameplay experience for those who prefer these input methods.
The minimap has been revamped to resemble the one in MEDIEVAL II, featuring smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button allows for quick returns to the default view, streamlining your gameplay further.
The Imperium Update is now available for ROME: Total War on Android, and you can download it directly from the Google Play Store. Keep an eye out for the updates coming to Barbarian Invasion and Alexander next week, ensuring you don't miss out on these enhancements.
