Firaxis Games announces a virtual reality adaptation of the recently released Civilization VII.
Sid Meier's Civilization VII - VR, the franchise's first foray into VR, will launch exclusively on Meta Quest 3 and 3S in Spring 2025. Developed by PlaySide Studios (known for The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and Meta Horizon Worlds), this VR title promises a unique experience.

Official Description:
Civilization VII - VR brings the iconic strategy game to life. The game world unfolds on a Command Table, allowing players to zoom in for detailed views of units and buildings or zoom out for a strategic overview. Engage directly with world leaders, forging alliances or declaring war across the ages.
Play in immersive VR or mixed reality, seamlessly switching between modes. The VR experience places you in an ornate museum overlooking a personalized vista, while mixed reality adapts the Command Table to your physical space. An in-game "Archives" showcases gameplay achievements in both VR and mixed reality. Online multiplayer supports up to four players on Meta Quest 3 and 3S.
The PC and console versions of Civilization VII, currently available through early access, have received mixed player feedback on Steam, citing UI issues, limited map variety, and missing features. Firaxis has acknowledged this feedback and pledged improvements, including UI enhancements, cooperative multiplayer teams, and expanded map types.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, in an interview with IGN, acknowledged the negative reviews but expressed confidence that the core Civilization fanbase will appreciate the game with further play, describing its early performance as "very encouraging."
