I own three standing desks. One came with a desktop, while for the other two, I sourced my own. For one, I chose a 74"x26" maple veneered countertop from Ikea for $199, and for the other, a 48"x25" solid wood countertop from Home Depot, which I finished myself. You have many options, and these Flexispot bases don't require their desktops. If you prefer a custom desktop, go for it, as long as it's within the weight limits.
