Guillermo del Toro's fascination with Frankenstein rivals even the infamous Dr. Frankenstein himself. A recent Netflix preview showcased a first-look image of Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein in del Toro's long-awaited adaptation (see above). The director, in a video message, revealed his decades-long dedication to the project.

"This film has been a lifelong dream, occupying my thoughts since childhood – for 50 years," del Toro shared, as reported by Variety. "I've pursued this adaptation for 20 to 25 years. Some might even say I'm a bit obsessed with Frankenstein," he added, gesturing towards his extensive Frankenstein collection at his Bleak House.

A brief glimpse of footage was also shown, featuring Isaac's Victor Frankenstein confronting Mia Goth, portraying a wealthy aristocrat, and Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein's monster – described as having long black hair, stitched gray skin, and piercing red eyes. This footage remains unavailable online.

Del Toro further elaborated on his profound connection to the material: "Over the years, the character has become intrinsically linked to my soul, evolving into a personal autobiography. It's the most personal project I've ever undertaken."

Del Toro's commitment to bringing Frankenstein to the screen is undeniable. The film's protracted development underscores the director's deep-seated passion for this iconic story.
