The iconic "Back to the Future" franchise appears to be staying firmly in the past, according to its screenwriter, Bob Gale. Despite the buzz stirred by the creators of the "Cobra Kai" TV series about a potential "Back to the Future" TV show, Gale firmly shut down any speculation of a revival. In an interview with People, he expressed his frustration with the persistent questions about the franchise's future, stating, "I don't know why they keep talking about that! I mean, do they think that if they say it enough times, we're going to actually do it?"

Gale reiterated his stance on any potential expansions, be it a "Back to the Future 4," a prequel, or a spinoff, with a resounding "Never." He emphasized that the trilogy, directed by Robert Zemeckis, is "just fine the way it is," echoing Zemeckis's sentiment that "It's perfect enough."

While Gale's comments might seem definitive, he acknowledged that Hollywood's power could theoretically override his and Zemeckis's wishes. However, he noted that executive producer Steven Spielberg's approval would be necessary, and according to Gale, Spielberg respects their desire to leave the franchise untouched. Gale humorously added that only extreme circumstances, like threats to their families, could change their minds, but he remains confident in Spielberg's support, citing Spielberg's similar stance on not wanting another "E.T."

Gale's sentiments align with his previous responses to fans hoping for a "Back to the Future 4," where he bluntly told them, "People always say, ‘When are you going to do Back to the Future 4?' And we say, ‘F\*\*k you.' "
