According to a recent leak in Genshin Impact, Wriothesley is set to receive his first rerun in Version 5.4, following a wait of over a year in the Fortress of Meropide. With more than 90 playable characters, Genshin Impact faces challenges in maintaining a fair and equitable schedule for its Event Banners. Given that only one new 5-Star character is typically introduced per patch, there are currently 43 limited 5-Star characters that should ideally have a rerun annually. However, with just 27 slots available on the Event Banners, this goal is unattainable.
The Chronicled Banner in Genshin Impact was introduced as a solution to this issue, but many players view it as a temporary fix rather than a sustainable solution. Despite the Chronicled Banner, Shenhe experienced a wait of over 600 days before her rerun was confirmed for Version 5.3. Without the implementation of Triple Banners, Genshin Impact players will likely continue to face extended intervals between character reruns.
Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, exemplifies the challenges posed by the current banner system. As a modern Cryo hypercarry with effective Burnmelt teams, Wriothesley has not appeared on Event Banners since November 8, 2023. According to the leaker Flying Flame, Wriothesley is slated to return in Version 5.4.
It's important to approach this leak with caution, as Flying Flame has had mixed reliability, particularly with leaks related to Natlan. While they accurately predicted the introduction of a new Chronicled Banner themed around the Lantern Rite in Version 5.3, other predictions have proven false. However, the new Spiral Abyss buff in Genshin Impact does enhance Wriothesley's playstyle, lending some credibility to the rumor.
Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially the first Standard Banner character from Inazuma. If Mizuki and Wriothesley occupy half of the Event Banners, the other half is expected to feature either Furina or Venti, as Archon characters typically follow a sequential rerun pattern, and these two are the remaining Archons yet to have their reruns. Version 5.4 is scheduled to launch on February 12, 2025.
