The “Canker” side quest is one of the early opportunities you’ll have to earn extra Groschen and pick up a useful weapon in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. It’s part of a short chain tied to Gules, a character you meet during the events at Semine. Completing this quest also sets up future missions, so it’s definitely worth your time. Here's how to complete the “Canker” side quest from start to finish.
To begin the “Canker” quest, speak with Gules at Semine. The easiest time to do this is during the wedding celebration of Lord Semine and Agnes, where you can approach him while he’s drinking and initiate the conversation. However, you don’t need to wait for the wedding—you can find Gules earlier if you visit Semine and speak to him while he’s on patrol.
During your conversation, ask him about his former bandit group and offer your help in eliminating them. One of those former allies is Canker, and Gules will assign you your first target in what becomes a small questline.
Once you accept the quest, Canker’s location will appear on your map. He’s located north of Nebakov Mill. The journey there can be dangerous, as random bandits often ambush players along the route. You can choose to avoid them using stealth, fight your way through, or simply outrun them—though expect some resistance before reaching your destination.
Canker’s camp is nestled in the mountains and may be easy to miss due to its narrow entrance. Think of it like navigating to the Hermit’s house when pursuing the “Wedding Crashers” quest. Be sure to prepare for combat before entering the camp, as you’ll face several bandits alongside Canker.
While some bandits might flee depending on the order you engage them in, most will stay and fight. Don’t assume you can skip any encounters—engage all enemies to ensure the area is secure. Fortunately, Canker himself won’t run away, so you can focus on taking him down without worry.
After defeating Canker and the rest of the bandits, loot his body. You must specifically take the Light Mace to prove your success to Gules, though you’re free to collect any other items from him as well.
Return to Gules at Semine to complete the quest and claim your reward. Doing so also triggers a timer—wait a full day in-game before speaking to him again to unlock the next quest, “Handsome Charlie,” which continues this mini-questline.
Successfully finishing the “Canker” side quest not only gives you a new weapon and some Groschen but also deepens your connection with Gules, setting the stage for more content later in the game.
