In the thrilling world of *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you'll encounter a variety of formidable beasts, each with its own unique traits and challenges. Among them, Rompopolo stands out as a particularly distinctive Brute Wyvern, and mastering the art of defeating and capturing it can significantly enhance your gameplay experience. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you conquer this unique monster.

You first encounter Rompopolo in Chapter 2 during Mission 2-1: Toward Fervent Fields. Upon reaching the Oilwell Basin region, Rompopolo will cross your path on the way to Azuz City, and defeating it is crucial to progress further in the game. Once you've defeated Rompopolo at least once, it will be added to your Large Monster Field Guide, allowing you to engage in subsequent battles with it. You can either stumble upon it while exploring the Oilwell Basin or start the "Oilwell Basin Blast" Optional Quest from your Tent for additional encounters.

To prepare for the battle against Rompopolo, equip your hunter with water-element weapons, ideally sourced from Uth Duna in the Scarlet Forest. Additionally, gear up with fire-resistant equipment, which can be farmed from Uth Duna (starting with the belt and greaves) or later from Ajarakan. For an extra layer of protection, consider crafting a fire-resistance Talisman like the Fire Charm I or a general Defense Charm I. Before heading into battle, don't forget to boost your health and stamina by grilling a hearty meal.

Rompopolo, with its unique bipedal form and gas-filled saggy skin, unleashes a variety of attacks, including gas-related explosions. It can also inflict poison status ailments, so carrying Antidotes is essential. Your Palico can be a valuable ally in cleansing these ailments. Here are the main attacks to be wary of:

As with previous *Monster Hunter* games, you have the option to either kill or capture Rompopolo near the end of the battle. Capturing requires you to weaken the monster until your Palico notes it's "tired," then use Shock Traps or Pitfall Traps to ensnare it, followed by at least one Tranq Bomb to knock it out, thus completing the capture. Both killing and capturing yield different item rewards, with some items exclusive to each method. Here are the potential drops from Rompopolo:
