Following the March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria*, you can discover Essence Stones within chests scattered throughout the mines. My first encounter was while searching for items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but these chests can appear on any level across all biomes. Be cautious of mimic enemies that mimic chests and can harm you upon interaction.
Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. While smaller stones are more common, diligent exploration can lead to finding larger ones. If you're struggling to find them, you can also craft them using the Stone Refinery, which you'll need to build within the mines.

Crafting Essence Stones is facilitated at the Stone Refinery in *Fields of Mistria*. This facility becomes available through a new story quest introduced in the March 2025 update, tasking you to construct it within the mines. After fulfilling the prerequisites, Adeline will enlist your assistance alongside Olric and Errol.
To build the Stone Refinery, gather:
Once constructed, you can craft Essence Stones of various sizes at the refinery. The crafting process requires Stone and Essence, with different quantities needed based on the stone's size. Refer to the table below for specific crafting requirements:
Tiny Essence Stone | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
Small Essence Stone | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
Medium Essence Stone | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
Large Essence Stone | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
In addition to Essence Stones, the Stone Refinery enables crafting a variety of common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, making it a crucial hub for resources needed for new builds and projects in Mistria.
The March 2025 update also introduces the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*, both of which require Essence Stones to function. Larger stones provide a longer charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the most extended duration.

The auto-petter mechanic is linked to the Animal Sprite Statue, a new item you can place in Large Barns and Coops. It automatically pets all animals inside daily, provided an Essence Stone is active. You can find this statue in a hidden cave near Errol’s house in the Narrows, accessible by using the Dragon’s Breath spell at the entrance. Additional statues can be crafted once the item is unlocked.
The sprinkler mechanic is unlocked through the Water Sprite Statue. Position this item anywhere on your farm to automatically water crops within a 2-tile radius when powered by an Essence Stone. You can craft more as needed. Locate the statue and its crafting scroll on a small island east of the beach, beyond the Lighthouse area. Access it by swimming and using Dragon’s Breath at the entrance.
As *Fields of Mistria* evolves with future updates from NPC Studio, expect even more innovative uses for Essence Stones.
