The buzz around Hollow Knight: Silksong has reached a fever pitch following Microsoft's casual mention in an official Xbox post, and now, backend changes to the game's Steam listing are stirring even more excitement. On March 24, the Steam metadata for Hollow Knight: Silksong was updated, as noted on SteamDB. These updates included an opt-in for the game on GeForce Now, Nvidia's video game streaming platform, along with changed assets and a significant update to the Steam store page's legal lines. The copyright for Hollow Knight is now listed as Team Cherry 2025, hinting at a potential release year.

These developments suggest that a re-reveal of Hollow Knight: Silksong could be imminent, possibly aligning with Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2. Fans are eagerly awaiting any news, especially after six years since the game's initial announcement. Over the years, there have been sporadic updates from Team Cherry, but long periods of silence have kept the community on edge. January saw heightened speculation following cryptic social media activity from a Team Cherry developer, leading to theories about a potential re-reveal and a launch exclusive on Nintendo's next-gen console.

When Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced, Team Cherry confirmed launch platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch. The game also became highly anticipated for Xbox Game Pass subscribers after Microsoft's deal with Team Cherry to include Silksong on the service from day one.

In June 2022, Microsoft showcased Hollow Knight: Silksong at its Xbox-Bethesda event, promising that all featured titles would be playable within the next 12 months. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay past the first half of 2023, with more details to follow as the game approached its release date. Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry's marketing and publishing lead, stated, "We had planned to release in the first half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can."

As the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2017 game, Hollow Knight, Silksong carries immense expectations and remains one of the most wishlisted titles on Steam. IGN's review of the original praised its "compelling and rich" world of Hallownest, highlighting the game's depth and the freedom it offers players in exploring its secrets and facing its challenging enemies.
