In *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*, you step into the swashbuckling shoes of Goro Majima, Captain of the Goro Pirates. As you navigate the high seas, recruiting a diverse crew is crucial, and here's how you can enlist Kraken-Chan and Surfer Jay to bolster your ranks.
Surfer Jay, a valuable recruit found in Honolulu, boasts higher base stats than many early-game crew members. Recruiting him, however, involves a bit more effort. You can tackle this recruitment in any order, but starting with a trip to Madlantis to fetch a crucial item is advisable.
Once you dock at Madlantis, head to the tent opposite the Madlantis Golf Range, where you'll find a variety of arcade games and a claw machine. Look for the UFO Catcher Game, which might contain the blue plush known as "Kraken-Chan," a key item for recruiting Surfer Jay. If Kraken-Chan isn't available, speak to the attendant under the tent to request a change in the prizes.
Winning Kraken-Chan from the claw machine can be challenging, much like real-life claw machines. Ensure you have enough cash before you start, and use the claw to nudge the plush towards the prize slot. Once you've secured Kraken-Chan, sail back to Honolulu on the Goromaru.
Upon arriving in Honolulu, head to the Anaconda Shopping Center's Tropical Coco. Use your mini-map to locate Surfer Jay, marked by a pirate symbol with a bandana and sword. You'll find him in a garage next to his surfboard. Engage in conversation with him, and he'll share his personal struggles. When the opportunity arises, gift him Kraken-Chan, which will resolve his issues and convince him to join your crew.
While Surfer Jay doesn't offer unique stats or perks as a First Mate or Boarding Squad Leader, he's a must-have for completionists. His recruitment process can be tricky, especially with his vague dialogue, but with Kraken-Chan in hand, you'll successfully add him to your pirate crew.
And that's how you secure Kraken-Chan and recruit Surfer Jay in *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*.
