Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has been unveiled during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, showcasing an expansive open-world Gotham City you can explore in the iconic Batmobile.
The highly anticipated project is being crafted by TT Games, the studio renowned for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and a long line of licensed Lego titles, and is set to release on Nintendo Switch 2, PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
The game features characters and levels that honor beloved Batman films and comics, while its combat system draws strong inspiration from the acclaimed Batman Arkham series. And yes — Matt Berry is voicing Bane.
“Whether he’s the brooding Dark Knight, the sharp-eyed detective, or the unexpected guardian of the ‘Batfam,’ Batman has continuously evolved — shaped by the world around him while staying a timeless icon,” said Jim Lee, President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer, DC.
“This game unites nearly every element of his legacy, letting players live the full spectrum of what makes Batman unforgettable. Built with meticulous care, boundless creativity, and deep admiration for the mythos, TT Games has delivered a heartfelt tribute to the world of Batman.”
TT Games once dominated the licensed Lego video game market across PC and consoles, releasing new titles annually. From 2005 to 2022, the studio launched at least 20 Lego games, including multiple entries based on Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. The studio experimented with the toys-to-life format in Lego Dimensions and explored open-ended gameplay in Lego Worlds.
Now, TT Games returns with a fresh vision for Lego Batman at a time when the landscape has shifted — with multiple Lego games developed by other studios, the franchise deeply woven into Fortnite, and a lengthy gap since 2022’s Lego Skywalker: The Skywalker Saga. It will be exciting to see what the team has been building behind the scenes.
