In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, your journey through the Ruins of Wyveria will pit you against the formidable Ebony Odogaron, the guardian of this ancient locale and known for being the fastest creature in the game. This guide will equip you with the strategies and knowledge needed to overcome this challenging adversary.

Ebony Odogaron's speed is its greatest asset and your biggest challenge. To counteract its agility, utilize stunning techniques. Look for a Flashfly in the area to stun the monster temporarily. Alternatively, craft Flash Pods to shoot at Ebony Odogaron, effectively immobilizing it and giving you a window to attack.
Facing Ebony Odogaron solo can be daunting due to its relentless attacks. To increase your chances of success, send out SOS signals to recruit fellow hunters. If no players respond, NPCs can serve as valuable allies, acting as distractions and shields, allowing you to dodge and strike when the monster's attention shifts.
During the battle, you'll encounter an area with Entangled Rocks overhead. Use your slinger to bring them down, stunning Ebony Odogaron for several precious seconds. This tactic can only be used once per fight, but you can also deploy Pitfall and Shock Traps to immobilize the monster twice more.
Be vigilant against Dragonblight, an affliction Ebony Odogaron can impose. It doesn't cause direct damage but hampers your ability to apply elemental or status effects. Counter this by consuming a Nulberry or equipping decorations with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance.
Inflicting Paralysis is highly recommended as it will temporarily halt Ebony Odogaron's movements, significantly simplifying the fight. If the monster is knocked down near roots, it may become further entangled, providing you with additional time to attack.
Targeting Ebony Odogaron's head, its most vulnerable spot with a 3-star weakness, will maximize your damage output. However, this also puts you at greater risk. As an alternative, aim for its forelegs and tail to potentially break these parts, although the damage will be less significant.

Capturing Ebony Odogaron requires strategic use of Pitfall or Shock Traps. First, reduce its health to 20% or below. Only then will the tranquilizer effectively put the monster to sleep, allowing for a successful capture. Failing to weaken it sufficiently will result in the monster breaking free, forcing you to continue the battle.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
