Medabots Survivor: Classic RPG Meets Bullet Heaven

If you've been keeping an eye on the latest game releases from around the world, you might be disappointed to learn about another title you can't access just yet. Medabot Survivors, the newest addition to the beloved robot role-playing series, is set to launch on February 10th, bringing thrilling bullet heaven action to mobile devices. However, this exciting release is currently exclusive to Japan, available on both iOS and Android platforms.

As reported by Gematsu, Medabots might ring a bell for those of us who grew up during the Pokemon craze. In the wake of Pokemon's monumental success, there was a significant effort to introduce various Japanese franchises with merchandising potential to Western audiences. While Digimon gained a substantial following, and some argue it even surpassed Pokemon in certain aspects, Medabots didn't quite manage to capture the same level of popularity in the West.

In Japan, however, Medabots has remained a major player in the gaming industry. Not quite a global phenomenon, but certainly more popular than it ever was outside of Japan. It's no surprise, then, that the franchise is venturing into the Survivors-like genre, although for now, only fans in Japan will have the chance to experience it.

While the term "Survivors-like" might evoke thoughts of Vampire Survivors, the genre itself predates this flagship release. The launch of Medabot Survivors not only excites fans of the series but also highlights the growing popularity of this genre worldwide.

Having been somewhat familiarized with the gaming scene in Japan, I can confirm there are numerous excellent releases that might never reach international audiences. However, if Medabot Survivors proves to be a hit, there's hope that it might eventually make its way to other regions.

In the meantime, if you're eager to explore upcoming games you can play right now, don't miss our latest feature in Ahead of the Game, where Catherine Dellosa delves into the charming world of Cat Restaurant.
