Konami Hints at Potential Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake and Next-Gen Ports
With the anticipated release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, speculation is rife regarding the inclusion of a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) remake. Konami has fueled this speculation, albeit indirectly.
In a recent IGN interview, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura acknowledged the intense fan interest in seeing MGS4 on modern platforms (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC). While remaining tight-lipped on specifics, Okamura’s response hinted strongly at future plans. His statement, referencing the inclusion of MGS 1-3 in Vol. 1, implied a similar trajectory for MGS4 in the next volume.
“We definitely are aware of this situation with MGS4,” Okamura stated. “Unfortunately, we can't really say too much at the moment...you can probably connect the dots! Right now, we still are internally concerned about what we should be doing for the future of the series. So sorry, we can't really reveal anything at the moment. But stay tuned!”
Further adding fuel to the fire, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline last year, suggesting their potential inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2. David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, also hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project.
While Konami hasn't confirmed anything concrete, the combination of Okamura's suggestive comments, the timeline placeholder buttons, and Hayter's social media activity strongly suggests that a Metal Gear Solid 4 remake or port, potentially as part of Master Collection Vol. 2, is a very real possibility. Fans eagerly await official confirmation.
