Minecraft Live 2025 has wrapped up, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of new features and enhancements coming to the iconic video game. The first game drop of the year, aptly named "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25. This update will breathe new life into the Overworld, making biomes feel more immersive and vibrant. Expect to encounter new variants of cows, pigs, and chickens, alongside enchanting ambient features like the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and the whispers of sand, encouraging players to explore more of the game's vast world.
The second game drop, currently unnamed, promises to introduce intriguing new elements to Minecraft. Players will discover the Dried Ghast block, which, when rehydrated, transforms into a Ghastling—a smaller, baby version of the familiar Ghast. As it matures, the Ghastling evolves into a Happy Ghast, which players can ride using a specially crafted Ghast harness, capable of carrying up to four adventurers at once. This feature not only adds a fun new way to traverse the game world but also offers a strategic advantage in Survival Mode, as the Happy Ghast allows players to position themselves freely in the sky, akin to Creative Mode mobility.
A significant visual upgrade, dubbed "Vibrant Visuals," was also announced. This update aims to enhance the aesthetic experience of Minecraft without altering its gameplay, marking a step towards realizing the developers' vision for the game's future visuals. Adding to the excitement, Mojang shared a sneak peek of the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a corresponding in-game live event set to begin on March 25. Players can participate in this movie-themed event in Midport Village, joining Steve and his cinematic companions to defend against a piglin attack through three engaging mini-games. Successful participants can earn the exclusive Yearn cape by completing all challenges during the event, which runs until April 7.
During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about the developer's stance on several key issues: they have no plans to create a Minecraft 2, shift to a free-to-play model, or employ generative AI in game development.
