Marvel enthusiasts eager for more of Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight in the MCU will have to temper their expectations about a second season of the Disney+ series. In a recent interview with ComicBook, Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, confirmed that while there are future plans for the character, a continuation of the show in the form of Season 2 is unlikely.
Since the release of Moon Knight in 2022, Marvel Television has shifted its strategy. Previously, the approach was to introduce characters through standalone series, paving the way for their inclusion in larger MCU projects. This was exemplified by the introduction of Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel before her role in The Marvels. However, Marvel Television is now adopting a more traditional television model, focusing on shows with annual releases.
Winderbaum elaborated, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."
While fans can catch Oscar Isaac voicing Moon Knight in the third and final season of the animated series Marvel's What If...?, no updates have been shared regarding his return in live-action.
Looking ahead, Marvel's confirmed upcoming TV shows on Disney+ include Daredevil: Born Again premiering in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December. Meanwhile, Marvel Television has reportedly paused production on three other shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. However, Winderbaum hinted at exciting developments, stating that the company is exploring opportunities to bring back the street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
