Contrary to expectations, this game is not a free pack-in title but a separate, purchasable digital download. Introduced during the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Switch 2 Welcome Tour serves as a "virtual exhibition" designed to familiarize players with the new console's features through tech demos, minigames, and interactive elements.

The Direct showcased a player avatar navigating a larger-than-life representation of the Switch 2, exploring its capabilities and learning about its innovations. The game functions as a virtual museum, offering educational content alongside engaging minigames such as Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo. Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop starting on the Switch 2's launch day.

Despite its educational value, fans have expressed surprise and curiosity about the decision to make this a paid digital game rather than a complimentary inclusion with the console. As of now, no pricing details have been disclosed.
