Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This significant leadership transition was announced in a recent press release, which also highlighted other key changes within Sony's executive structure.
Sony's current CFO, Hiroki Totoki, is set to take on the role of president and CEO of Sony Corporation, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida, who has led the company since April 2018 after Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, who previously served as Senior Vice President of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy, is being promoted to the position of CFO.
Just last year, following the retirement of former SIE CEO Jim Ryan, it was decided that leadership responsibilities at SIE would be divided between Nishino and Hermen Hulst. Hulst was appointed to head PlayStation Studios, while Nishino took charge of hardware and technology. With Nishino's new role as the sole CEO of SIE, he will now oversee the entire operation and lead the platform business group. Meanwhile, Hulst will continue to focus on his role as head of PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, who has been with Sony since 2000, previously held the position of Senior Vice President of the Platform Experience Group. Expressing his enthusiasm about his new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
