"Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer Unveils Superman Ties in Opening Scene"

Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, which significantly enhances the show's ties to the Superman narrative by introducing Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene. The trailer begins with Sean Gunn portraying Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl conducting a dismissive interview with John Cena’s character, Peacemaker, regarding his potential inclusion in a superhero team. The interview quickly deteriorates, leaving Peacemaker visibly dejected as he exits the building.

This trailer offers the first glimpses of these supporting characters, who are also slated to appear in James Gunn's upcoming Superman film.

Peacemaker Season 2 is set to premiere on August 21, following the release of Superman on July 11, marking it as the third installment in the new DCU, which was launched with the Creature Commandos TV series last year.

James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran's revamped cinematic universe aims to distance itself from the critically criticized DC Extended Universe, which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the previous universe will continue. Peacemaker serves as a prime example, having started in the DCEU with its first season and now transitioning into the DCU with its second.

Gunn has mentioned that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though it's still uncertain which specific elements will carry over from the DCEU to the DCU. He has confirmed that all members of Team Peacemaker will return with the same actors, including John Cena as Peacemaker, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Additionally, Gunn has stated that the events of Peacemaker Season 2 will occur after those of Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's storyline directly impacting Peacemaker's narrative.
