Persona5: The Phantom X is officially out today. For those unfamiliar, the game continues the stylish rebellion that propelled the Persona series to global fame. This new entry honors the franchise’s roots while introducing a fresh cast of rebellious and fashion-forward characters.

Persona5: The Phantom X Ushers in a New Adventure

The story follows a new protagonist who awakens from a nightmare into a reality twisted into something darker and bleaker. Soon, he encounters a strikingly articulate owl named Lufel, a mysterious woman in blue, and a long-nosed stranger.

Players will balance the hero's everyday school life with intense battles inside the Metaverse and surreal journeys to the Velvet Room. The mission: steal the twisted desires of corrupt individuals and force them to face the truth.

Persona5: The Phantom X, often shortened to P5X, keeps the series' iconic turn-based combat while introducing a flexible party-building system. Each team revolves around Wonder and three companions, supported by a Navigator.

When players deploy characters or Personas that share the same attributes, they activate Harmony—a feature that boosts damage for those elements. Because Wonder can switch Personas mid-fight, you can shift which Harmony effects are active during combat.

A Closer Look at Gameplay Features

Character progression in Persona5: The Phantom X relies on Arcana Cards, which replace traditional armor and accessories. These cards enhance core stats such as HP, Attack, and Speed. This marks a key contrast to Persona 5, which offered only one armor slot and one accessory slot.

Gameplay spans seven distinct modes, from relaxed to high-intensity. More laid-back options include Heart Rail, Tycoon, Tartarus, and Velvet Trials, while endgame players can tackle tougher challenges like the Sea of Souls Trials, Door of Nightmares, and Astrolabe Trials.
