You Might Soon Be Able to Play PC Games on Android with the Xiaomi WinPlay Engine!

Xiaomi's newly unveiled WinPlay Engine is a game-changer for Android tablet gaming. This innovative tool allows you to play Windows games directly on your Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro with minimal performance impact—currently in beta. Powered by a three-layer virtualization system and Xiaomi's HyperCore kernel, the engine leverages the Pad 6S Pro's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip to deliver a surprisingly smooth experience.

Xiaomi boasts a mere 2.9% GPU performance loss, a small price to pay for the convenience of playing PC titles on a tablet. The WinPlay Engine supports Steam, potentially granting direct access to your existing game library, though full compatibility details remain to be seen. Further enhancing the experience, the engine supports Bluetooth peripherals like keyboards, mice, and even Xbox controllers with haptic feedback, even enabling local multiplayer for up to four players.

While setup currently requires some manual intervention—involving purchasing games on platforms like Steam or GOG, transferring game files to the tablet, and launching via the AI Treasure Box app—the beta nature of the engine explains this. It's not quite plug-and-play yet, but the potential is undeniable.

Currently exclusive to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro, the WinPlay Engine's future rollout to other devices remains unannounced. However, the prospect of near-native performance for Windows games on an Android tablet is undeniably exciting. Learn more here. Next up, we'll be covering Crunchyroll's addition of Tengami, a captivating puzzle game steeped in Japanese folklore and presented in a unique pop-up book style.
