After 26 years of adventuring in the Pokémon anime, protagonist Ash Ketchum finally called it a day at the tender age of perpetually 10 years old. However, The Pokémon Company seems to be breaking tradition with the new series, Pokémon Horizons, by allowing its protagonists, Liko and Roy, to grow up.
The recent CoroCoro magazine unveiled the next arc in Pokémon Horizons, titled Mega Voltage, which will include a significant "time skip." This development will age Liko and Roy by approximately three years, introducing new designs that showcase their more mature appearances:

While it remains uncertain whether we'll see a grown-up Ash in this arc or future seasons, fans are buzzing with speculation about potential future appearances.
The Mega Voltage arc will also bring back Mega Evolutions, aligning with the reintroduction of this mechanic in the upcoming game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Additionally, Liko's Floragato has evolved into Meowscarada, and Roy now possesses a shiny Mega Lucario.
One character noticeably absent from the reveal is Friede, captain of the Rising Volt Tacklers. His Pikachu appears with Friede's goggles, which show cracks, hinting at a possible unfortunate event involving Friede.
The Mega Voltage arc is set to premiere in Japan on April 11, though fans in the United States will have to wait longer due to the delay in the English dub. Previously, we gave Pokémon Horizons Season 2 a 5/10, critiquing its reluctance to fully embrace its potential. Hopefully, the time skip will bring renewed vigor to the series and the Rising Volt Tacklers.
