Get ready for more action as the iconic character Rambo is set to make a thrilling comeback with a new prequel project titled "John Rambo." This exciting development comes from the director of "Sisu" and "Big Game," Jalmari Helander, and is currently being launched by Millennium Media at the Cannes market. Known for producing the Expendables and Has Fallen series, Millennium Media previously brought us the 2008's "Rambo" and 2019's "Rambo: Last Blood."

The Cannes market, which coincides with the Cannes Film Festival, is a key event where film projects seeking funding or distribution partners are showcased to potential investors. "John Rambo" is set to be a prequel, taking us back to the Vietnam War era, serving as a backstory to the iconic 1982 film "First Blood." While plot details remain under wraps, we know that the original star, Sylvester Stallone, is aware of the project but not involved at this stage. No casting decisions have been finalized yet.

The script for "John Rambo" has been penned by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, the writers behind "The Mauritanian" and "Black Adam." Production is slated to begin in October in Thailand, promising an authentic setting for this Vietnam War prequel.

Although a Rambo prequel might come as a surprise, director Jalmari Helander's recent success with the 2023 WWII action film "Sisu" demonstrates his capability to deliver high-octane action. "Sisu" transformed the concept of John Wick into an elderly Finnish commando battling Nazis during the Lapland War, proving Helander's knack for intense and gripping action sequences.
