A former employee of Respawn Entertainment recently shared on LinkedIn that the studio has halted the development of a new game this week. The project, which had been in development for several years, was abruptly stopped without any public explanation regarding the decision.
Last year, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb clarified that this was not a mainline entry in the Titanfall series, specifically not Titanfall 3. Respawn had assembled an "experimental team" dedicated to this project, comprised of experts in multiplayer shooter development.
This isn't the first time Respawn has faced project cancellations. Last year, they also shut down an arcade shooter known internally as Titanfall Legends.
The Titanfall series, which debuted in 2014, is renowned for its innovative gameplay that mixes fast-paced action with mech piloting. Players can engage in battles either as agile pilots or as formidable Titans. The franchise has built a strong following due to its unique combination of parkour and dynamic team-based combat.
Currently, Respawn's focus has shifted to other projects. They are working on the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series and collaborating with Bit Reactor on a new strategy game set within the Star Wars universe.
