Whispers of a new, unannounced project from Santa Monica Studio, the minds behind God of War, are swirling. A recent update from a key developer provides intriguing clues about this potential new IP.
Glauco Longhi, a veteran character artist and developer, hints at a new game IP in his LinkedIn profile. Longhi, who returned to Santa Monica Studio earlier this year, is overseeing character development for this "unannounced project." His previous work includes significant contributions to God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök. His LinkedIn profile states he's "Supervising/Directing Character development on an unannounced project, and also helping the studio to continually push and raise the bar on Character Development for videogames."

Fueling the speculation, Santa Monica Studio's creative director, Cory Barlog (director of the 2018 God of War reboot), previously indicated the studio was working on multiple projects. Furthermore, Longhi's profile, coupled with recent job postings for a character artist and tools programmer, suggests the studio is actively expanding its team.

The prevailing rumor points towards a sci-fi setting, potentially under the direction of Stig Asmussen (God of War 3's creative director). While unconfirmed, Sony's trademark of "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet" earlier this year further fuels this speculation. Past rumors of a cancelled PS4 sci-fi project from the studio also add to the intrigue. However, until an official announcement, the nature of this new project remains firmly in the realm of speculation.
