Sonic Rumble has yet to launch globally, but it's already making waves with its first crossover event, dubbed Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars. This exciting event is live now and will run until May 7th, just before the game's worldwide launch on May 8th.
Currently in soft launch, Sonic Rumble is available in over 40 countries. The game had its first pre-launch in Summer 2024 in regions such as the Philippines, Scandinavian countries, and Colombia. The second pre-launch expanded to Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa, and more.
If you're located in one of the regions where Sonic Rumble soft-launched last year, you can participate in the Sonic Rumble SEGA Stars crossover. One of the highlights is the return of the Altered Beast crew, with the Werewolf transformation available for free.
For fans of nostalgic beast modes, the Werebear and Weredragon are also up for grabs. The Weredragon is exclusive to the Premium Pass, while the Werebear can be purchased with regular rings.
Adding a touch of Fantasy Zone, Opa-Opa and Upa-Upa have joined the fray. Opa-Opa is part of the Premium Pass, whereas Upa-Upa can be acquired through fragments, which you can buy with standard rings at 700 rings each.
Super Monkey Ball's AiAi and MeeMee have also made their way into the Sonic Rumble SEGA Stars crossover. To get AiAi, you'll need to spend 729 Red Star Rings. For a sneak peek at the event, check out the video below.
During matches, you can collect SEGA logos to earn extra goodies. While it might seem odd for the event to be live before the global release, SEGA has confirmed that most of these pre-release rewards will return later.
It's thrilling to see Sonic Rumble's first crossover event delve into SEGA's rich history and current lineup. The mix of monkeys, sentient arcade ships, and powerful were-creatures interacting with Sonic and his friends adds to the game's promising appeal.
You can download Sonic Rumble from the Google Play Store now or wait for its official release on May 8th in your region.
