Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is celebrating its first anniversary the only way an Ultramarine knows how: with heavy firepower and more Chaos forces to annihilate. Continue reading to discover all the confirmed details from Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment about this upcoming update.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is nearing its one-year milestone, yet the Emperor's duty never ends. Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have confirmed that the co-op shooter will continue to expand, featuring a significant "large-scale update" scheduled for September followed by a complete second year of both free and premium content. This shift is largely due to many features originally planned for Update 9 being moved to Update 10, making the summer release primarily focused on gameplay balancing.
In a recent community announcement on Steam, Saber and Focus outlined their roadmap to support Space Marine 2 well into 2026. "We are excited to confirm that a second year of content—including both free updates and DLC available through a new annual season pass—is officially in development!" the studio stated. "Look forward to fresh PvE missions, adversaries, armaments, and... much more."
The term "more" certainly carries significant weight here. Although development on Space Marine 3 has begun, the developers' hints about future content suggest a strong commitment to their promise of ongoing support for Space Marine 2, even if many specifics are still under development.

The cornerstone of the anniversary celebration is the planned 10.0 update in September, which will deliver a substantial package of new content. A major highlight is a new PvP mode, though fans will need to wait a bit longer. Originally intended for the summer's Update 9.0, the mode has been rescheduled for the September release.
While Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment haven't revealed all the specifics, the new mode is expected to feature Chaos factions battling each other on a brand-new map, deviating from the standard "Loyalist vs. Chaos" format of regular PvP. Participants will also gain the ability to control the Helbrute, one of the game's boss enemies, alongside access to "new Chaos armor sets" and the Power Axe—complete with its unique combat animations and execution moves. So far, only a work-in-progress model of the axe has been shown.
Another major addition on the way is a new playable class: the Techmarine. Although Saber and Focus are keeping details limited for now, this class—known in Warhammer 40k lore as the engineers and battlefield technicians of the Adeptus Astartes—is anticipated to specialize in repairing equipment and reinforcing defenses during combat.
It has been confirmed that the Techmarine class will be usable in both PvE and PvP modes. Players eager for more information should keep an eye on future community updates, expected in late July and August as the studio gears up for the major September release.

Looking forward, players can anticipate a consistent flow of new content throughout the game's second year. The upcoming season pass will offer a mix of free updates and premium DLC, building upon the content model established during the title's first year.
Although no exact release date has been set for Update 9.0, the developers indicate it will arrive sometime this summer. Further details regarding the 10.0 update, the new Chaos PvP mode, and the Techmarine class are likely to be shared in community posts throughout July and August.
