Heads up: music streaming giant Spotify experienced a widespread outage this morning, leaving millions of users unable to enjoy their favorite tunes. According to Downdetector, a sister site of IGN, reports of Spotify outages started pouring in around 6 a.m. PT and continued throughout the morning. Our team at IGN also faced difficulties accessing the service, and when we managed to open the app, it refused to play any music.
Spotify has officially acknowledged the issue and is actively working to resolve it. The company took to social media to clarify that the outage is not related to a security hack, dispelling any rumors of a breach.
We are aware of the outage and working to resolve it as soon as possible. The reports of this being a security hack are false.
