Ubisoft has announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this latest postponement aims to integrate player feedback and further refine the game's polish.
The game's journey to release has been marked by delays. The first, announced in September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th, 2025. While the initial delay cited the need to improve the game, this second delay specifically emphasizes incorporating fan feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, the game's vice president executive producer, stated Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience through ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays, however, share the common goal of providing additional time for refinement and polishing.
Release Date: March 20, 2025
Ubisoft previously offered pre-order refunds and free expansion access to mitigate the impact of the September delay. While no similar compensation has been announced for this shorter delay, the five-week postponement is likely to generate less player discontent than the previous three-month shift.
This additional delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its practices, launched to improve player focus and address recent disappointing sales figures resulting in record losses in fiscal year 2023. Incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows aligns with the investigation's goals of creating more player-centric games.
