Developer Cygames announced on X (formerly Twitter) on April 27 that the game will hit the global market on June 26, 2025. Pre-registrations are already open as of April 28.

Originally launched in Japan on February 24, 2021, for iOS, Android, and PC, Umamusume: Pretty Derby introduces a unique narrative where legendary racehorses are reincarnated as "horse girls" or "Umamusume." These characters blend the appearance of high school girls with the ears, tails, endurance, and speed of horses. They attend Tokyo's Tracen Academy, striving to become renowned racers and idols.

As detailed on its Steam page, players can "scout featured trainees and supporters" and immerse themselves in a comprehensive sports life simulation. The game boasts an advanced training system and stunning 3D graphics. It features a gacha system that allows players to choose from over 20 unique Uma Musumes to scout, train, and race.

According to PocketGamer.biz in March 2025, the Japanese version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby amassed over $2.5 billion in mobile revenue within four years, nearing $1 billion in its first year alone in 2021. With the English release, Cygames aims to achieve similar success worldwide.
