To embark on a romantic journey with Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*, you must first break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. This requires you to offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Once these items are offered, a cutscene unfolds where the Mines Priestess warns the farmer to leave or risk being sealed. As your character's health depletes, Caldarus heroically intervenes, transforming into his human form and bestowing upon you the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods. With this transformation, you can now engage in daily conversations and gift-giving with Caldarus, just as you would with other romanceable NPCs in Mistria.

After breaking the Fire Seal, Caldarus can be found exclusively at his temple in the Deep Woods. To permanently unlock this area on your map, you'll need to use the Dragon’s Breath spell.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

Upon unlocking Caldarus as a romance option, he starts with six hearts, which is currently the heart level cap. As of the March 2025 update, there are no additional heart events for Caldarus, but more are expected in future updates. The current cutscenes include an introductory dream sequence that sets the stage for Mistria’s magic system and another where Caldarus rescues the farmer after the Fire Seal is broken, revealing his human form and retreating to recover in the Deep Woods.

Given Caldarus’ starting heart level of six, you can automatically attend with him. To initiate this special event, gift him the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28 and meet up afterward to confirm your participation. The date unfolds with a cutscene at the Summit where Caldarus expresses gratitude for the invitation, shares insights on the stars, and discusses the ancient Mistrian tradition of Starbinding.
