Oz Perkins, hot off the heels of *Longlegs*, returns with another chilling adaptation of a Stephen King tale. *The Monkey*, starring Theo James as a pair of haunted twins, promises a wild ride. Joining James are a stellar cast including Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, and Adam Scott, all caught in the grip of a cymbal-clanging, death-dealing monkey toy. IGN critic Tom Jorgenson raves, calling it "one of the best horror-comedies (and Stephen King adaptations) in recent memory, exploding off the screen with both gory kills and big laughs."

Unlike many films, The Monkey will eventually stream on Hulu. Neon, the distributor, has a deal with Hulu securing the streaming rights. However, Neon's releases typically take several months to reach the platform. For example, Longlegs premiered in theaters on July 12, 2024, and arrived on Hulu on February 14, 2025. Expect a similar timeframe for The Monkey, though digital rentals or purchases via Prime Video might be available by early May.

Based on Stephen King's 1980 short story (later revised for Skeleton Crew), The Monkey follows this synopsis: When twin brothers stumble upon a sinister wind-up monkey, a series of gruesome deaths plague their family. Twenty-five years later, the monkey returns for a new killing spree, forcing the estranged siblings to confront their cursed past.
While there's no traditional post-credits scene, a surprise awaits those who stick around. For details (spoiler warning!), check out IGN's guide to The Monkey's ending.
