Microsoft has announced its next Xbox Developer Direct, set to take place on January 23, 2025. This event will be the first Xbox game showcase of the year, continuing the tradition of annual broadcasts that began in January 2023. The 2025 edition will follow the same pattern, scheduled for January 23 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. This announcement aligns with earlier rumors that hinted at a January 9 reveal.
Xbox Developer Direct 2025 Details
The upcoming event will feature three confirmed titles. South of Midnight, developed by Compulsion Games, is a stylish action adventure game first announced in June 2023. Although it still lacks a release date, fans hope to learn more at the Xbox Developer Direct. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, is set to launch in 2025 and will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. Finally, Doom: The Dark Ages from id Software, announced in June 2024, had a playable demo at QuakeCon 2024 and is rumored for a mid-2025 release.
While these three games are confirmed, the event may include additional surprises. Previous Xbox Developer Directs have run over 40 minutes and showcased multiple titles. For example, the 2024 event featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. Fans can look forward to potentially more game reveals at the 2025 showcase.
